Taking a Thought Inventory

What do you think about most? Are your thoughts mostly negative or positive? Do your thoughts ever include God and His Word?


After doing an inventory of my thought life, I realized my thoughts concentrated way too much on past hurts and ungratefulness and not enough on the grace and mercies of God.


Changing our thought process is not impossible. I’ll type that again (more for me than you). Changing our thought process is not impossible. It takes work, but it’s not impossible.


Paul said, “We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ” (2 Corinthians 10:5). With the help of the Holy Spirit, it is possible to take control of my thoughts, dismissing and deleting those that do not honor God and replacing them with those that do honor Him.


Paul even helps us out by giving us a list of things to think about, “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.” (Philippians 4:8)


My dear friend, nothing is impossible with God. So, continue to be obedient each day, one thought at a time, knowing His mercies are new every morning.
